Cobalt Blue featured on 7NEWS Spotlight

Cobalt Blue was featured on the Spotlight program, shining a national spotlight on one of Australia’s most significant undeveloped mineral resources.

The Broken Hill Cobalt Project holds one of the largest undeveloped cobalt resources in the world, a primary cobalt deposit located in outback New South Wales with the scale and grade to supply critical minerals to allied nations for decades. Yet despite its strategic significance, the project has faced headwinds from a global cobalt market long dominated by Chinese-backed production out of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

We’ve been very happy for China to take near monopolistic positions in all these critical minerals — with no regard to the environment, no regard to labour standards, and we’ve been very happy to buy back the products
— Dr Andrew Tong

CEO Andrew Tong told the program that Australia has allowed this situation to develop with little scrutiny while generational resources like the Broken Hill Cobalt Project sit undeveloped. It is a dynamic Cobalt Blue is determined to change.

The Broken Hill Cobalt Project represents a genuine alternative: a large-scale, responsibly produced cobalt resource in a stable, tier-one jurisdiction, backed by Cobalt Blue’s patented processing technology and the Broken Hill Technology Centre.
