US government clarifies Foreign Entities of Concern, widening the door for Australian Critical Minerals
Final definitions on Foreign Entities of Concern (FEOC) were released by the US Department of Treasury on December 1, 2023. These definitions have clarified sourcing restrictions and associated access to US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Critical minerals, constituent materials, battery components or EVs that breach FEOC guidelines will be excluded from receiving IRA-related benefits.

Strategic Update: COB to Progress Cobalt-Nickel Refinery Project in 2024
The Refinery is a proposed large-scale, cobalt-nickel operation representing Australia’s first cobalt refinery that will produce high-quality, battery-grade cobalt sulphate that is intended for IRA-compliant markets. It will be among the first large Allied Nation investments in cobalt refining for decades. The Refinery is expected to establish COB as an early entrant into the emerging midstream segment of the Allied Battery Supply Chain.

Bulk Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) Produced
Successful operations continue at the Broken Hill Cobalt Project (BHCP) Demonstration Plant that provide data and supporting studies for the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS). In recent weeks, our operators have produced over 100kg of Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP). Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Update
Broken Hill Cobalt Project (BHCP) is currently preparing the EIS, which will assess the environmental, social and economic implications of the Project. The EIS will be submitted to the Department of Planning and Environment in Q4 2023 for determination of State Significant Development Approval.

US government clarifies Foreign Entities of Concern, widening the door for Australian Critical Minerals
Final definitions on Foreign Entities of Concern (FEOC) were released by the US Department of Treasury on December 1, 2023. These definitions have clarified sourcing restrictions and associated access to US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Critical minerals, constituent materials, battery components or EVs that breach FEOC guidelines will be excluded from receiving IRA-related benefits.

Strategic Update: COB to Progress Cobalt-Nickel Refinery Project in 2024
The Refinery is a proposed large-scale, cobalt-nickel operation representing Australia’s first cobalt refinery that will produce high-quality, battery-grade cobalt sulphate that is intended for IRA-compliant markets. It will be among the first large Allied Nation investments in cobalt refining for decades. The Refinery is expected to establish COB as an early entrant into the emerging midstream segment of the Allied Battery Supply Chain.

Bulk Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) Produced
Successful operations continue at the Broken Hill Cobalt Project (BHCP) Demonstration Plant that provide data and supporting studies for the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS). In recent weeks, our operators have produced over 100kg of Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP). These samples will be used in engineering studies needed to evaluate and specify equipment for the BHCP processing facility and for international evaluation as part of our partner program.

Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Update
Broken Hill Cobalt Project (BHCP) is currently preparing the EIS, which will assess the environmental, social and economic implications of the Project. The EIS will be submitted to the Department of Planning and Environment in Q4 2023 for determination of State Significant Development Approval.

Broken Hill Cobalt Project staff and families caught the Christmas spirit this year, participating in the annual Christmas Pageant on Saturday, 3rd December 2022. The Christmas Pageant and associated festivities are highlights of the Broken Hill community calendar, with the event bringing people of all ages into the historic CBD to welcome Christmas and Santa Claus to town.

Broken Hill Cobalt Project - First batch of high grade pyrite concentrate
A major milestone has been achieved for the Broken Hill Cobalt Project with our first bag of concentrate produced at Pyrite Hill. Weighing in at 731.5kg, this concentrate will be dried and then transported to the Demonstration Plant in Broken Hill for processing to recover cobalt and elemental sulphur.

COB: BHCP Analyst Site Visit 21 June 2022 - Presentation
Cobalt Blue hosted a site visit at the Broken Hill Cobalt Project that provided an update on the progress of the Demonstration Plant. Our guests were provided with a tour of the crushing and concentrator circuits and had the opportunity to walk ~80m into the underground decline. They were also guided through our processing plant and sulphate lab.
