Platts Metals Daily: Cobalt Blue Involvement in WA Battery Metal Refining Hub

In this article by Platts Metals Daily, Cobalt Blue’s Investment Relations/Commercial Manager, Joel Crane, discusses the Company’s participation with other battery metal players in Australia to develop a battery metal refining hub in Western Australia.

Cobalt Blue is a participant of the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre (FBICRC), which launched its flagship cathode precursor production pilot plant project in July.

The Broken Hill Cobalt Project will supply cobalt to feed into Western Australia’s Future Battery Industry program , which launched in January 2019. The program has so far attracted investment in local mining and processing projects, expanded Australia’s contribution to the global battery supply chain, and created local jobs.

“They will be developing a number of different battery chemistries and we’re providing the cobalt for them all,” Crane said.
