Broken Hill Cobalt Project (BHCP) is currently preparing the Environmental Impact Study (EIS), which will assess the environmental, social and economic implications of the Project. The EIS will be submitted to the Department of Planning and Environment in Q4 2023 for determination of State Significant Development Approval. Dr Bruce Blunden (our Approvals Manager), provides some insight on the EIS in this video below.
A comprehensive suite of environmental field investigations have been underway since 2018. BHCP have engaged GHD to lead the preparation of the EIS. In addition, technical specialists have been engaged to investigate and assess environmental aspects such as biodiversity, Aboriginal cultural heritage, soils, groundwater, and waste rock management.
In this video, Dr Bruce Blunden, provides some insight on the EIS. Bruce has extensive on-site environmental management experience to ensure our Project is compliant with relevant approval and regulatory obligations.
