Radio Interview: ReMIne+ and Mt Isa City Council MOU

In this interview with ABC Radio on the North West and West Queensland Rural Report, Cobalt Blue’s head of ReMine+, Dr Helen Degeling, discusses the opportunity to extract critical metals and sulphuric acid from mine waste.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on Monday 9th December 2024 between Cobalt Blue and Mount Isa City Council to address the looming sulphuric acid supply shortage in North West Queensland.

The MOU establishes a framework for Cobalt Blue and Mount Isa City Council to work together. This collaboration will assess the feasibility of a Mount Isa-based pyrite tailings reprocessing operation to produce sulphuric acid, which is essential to multiple industries across the region.

ReMine+ enables reprocessing of pyrite and other sulphide-rich mine tailings to recover valuable metals like gold, cobalt, nickel, and copper, while simultaneously generating either elemental sulphur or sulphuric acid.
